Fix My Speaker — Speaker Cleaner
Speaker gone muffled after a splash, a rainy day or a dusty pocket? Run one 60-second cleaning cycle: shaped sound waves push trapped water out of the speaker and shake dust loose from the grille. No app to install — the sound is generated right here, on the device you are holding.
How to use
The Fix My Speaker cleaner is a free online tool — no sign-up, no download, nothing to install. For the best result, follow the same order the professionals use:
- Remove any case or cover that sits over the speaker, and gently wipe visible moisture away with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Turn the volume all the way up. The cleaning tones need full power to move water — a half-volume cycle is a half-cleaned speaker.
- Hold the device with its speaker facing down, so gravity helps the droplets travel out instead of settling deeper.
- Choose a mode — Sound for water and dust, Vibrate for stubborn debris (Android Chrome), or Auto to run both together — and press Start Cleaning.
- Let the ring reach 100%. Then play a voice message or a song and listen. Still muffled? Run the cycle 2–3 times in total — most speakers clear by the second or third round.
How it works
Your speaker makes sound by moving a thin diaphragm back and forth. This tool puts that movement to work as a pump. The cycle runs in three phases:
- Water eject (0–20s): strong pulses at 165 Hz — the frequency speaker-cleaning tools have standardised on — shove the diaphragm in short bursts, physically pushing water droplets out through the grille.
- Deep sweep (20–40s): the tone glides between 120 Hz and 900 Hz. Different frequencies resonate in different corners of the speaker chamber, loosening dust that a single fixed tone would leave behind.
- Shake-out sweep (40–60s): faster pulses climb towards 4,500 Hz, targeting the fine mist and grit trapped in the mesh itself.
In Vibrate and Auto modes the phone's vibration motor pulses along with the sound, adding mechanical shaking for debris that is wedged rather than floating. Everything is generated live by your browser's audio engine — there is no audio file and nothing about your device is recorded or sent anywhere.
When this tool can't help
Sound cleaning fixes blockages — water and dust sitting where they should not be. It cannot repair hardware. If your speaker has no sound at all, crackles at every volume even when dry, or the phone went into salt water (which corrodes metal fast), skip the cycles and go to a repair technician. And if the phone is still dripping, let it dry in open air first — never charge a wet phone.
Frequently asked questions
What does Fix My Speaker do?
It plays a 60-second cycle of carefully shaped sound waves — deep 165 Hz pulses that push water out of the speaker, followed by frequency sweeps that shake loose dust and debris. In Vibrate and Auto modes it also pulses your phone's vibration motor to help dislodge what sound alone cannot move.
How do I use Fix My Speaker?
Turn your volume to maximum, hold the phone with its speaker facing down, choose Sound, Vibrate or Auto mode, and press Start Cleaning. Let the cycle reach 100%, then test your speaker with a voice or music. Repeat the cycle 2–3 times if the sound is still muffled.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
The sound cleaning works on any phone, tablet, laptop, earbud case or Bluetooth speaker that can open this page and play audio — iPhone and Android included. The vibration mode needs a browser that allows web vibration, which is Chrome on Android; iPhones do not let websites vibrate, so on iPhone use Sound or Auto mode and the sound cycle still runs in full.
Is it safe for my speaker?
The tones stay within the range your speaker already plays for music and ringtones, and the output passes through a safety limiter in your browser. Do not hold the phone against your ear while a cycle runs, and stop if you ever hear crackling that was not there before — that can be a sign of physical damage instead of water or dust.
Is Fix My Speaker free, and is my data private?
Yes and yes. The tool is completely free with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser — the sound is generated on your device, nothing is recorded, uploaded or shared.
